Bellarmine diving champion commits to USC

Robbie Taylor, a senior diver from Bellarmine College Prep, has made an oral commitment to USC.

Taylor won the Central Coast Section diving championship last season with a score of 473.3. He finished second at CCS as a sophomore and third his freshman year.

A three-time All-American, Taylor holds the Bellarmine school diving record and is a three-time West Catholic Athletic League champion.

• Kelly Costantini, a senior pitcher from Archbishop Mitty, has made an oral commitment to attend USF. The right-hander plans to sign his letter of intent in March. Last season he was 5-3 with a 1.35 ERA for the Monarchs, striking out 31 batters in 36 1/3 innings.

• Doreen Stern, a field hockey player from Westmont, has made an oral commitment to attend University of Pacific. A midfielder and team captain for the Warriors, Stern was named a first team all-league selection in the Blossom Valley Athletic League's Santa Teresa Division this season.

• The St. Francis boys basketball team ended a seven-game losing streak by winning their first WCAL game of the year with an 81-70 victory over visiting Valley Christian on Wednesday night. The Lancers (12-7, 1-7) got a 29-point performance from junior Shawn Grant and Omar Bourgoub scored 19 points.
