Businessman Bill Sweetman is ignoring the latest trend for modern bars in Haywards Heath by transforming The Duck into a traditional English pub.

The proprietor of Mid Sussex based taxi firm Hello Taxi took over the pub on Wivelsfield Road in September and has already spent thousands of pounds on the much needed makeover.

Bill said: "There are too many bars and clubs these days and all you need is a traditional comfortable, clean and friendly pub. That is what people really want.

"The pub was a mess when we came in and we have already made so many changes. The carpet on the floor was black. Your feet would just stick to the floor. We have cleaned everything and we now have a brand new kitchen installed."

Bill has re-opened the function room above the pub and will started serving food to customers on Thursday.
