The College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team defended their home pool well en route to a third place finish at the CSB/SJU Invitational Saturday. The Blazers tallied five top five finishes and
posted 519.5 team points. Division II St. Cloud State won the team portion of the meet with 1083.5 points.
Junior Alison Pagliaccetti (Virginia, Minn./ Virginia) grabbed third place in the 50 yard freestyle with a 25.47. Senior captain Brittany Boegel (Plymouth, Minn./ Wayzata) took fourth in the 200 yard breaststroke with a 2:43.83. Sophomore Abbey Brau’s (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) 5:34.07 in the 500 yard freestyle earned her third place.
The 400 yard freestyle relay of juniors Kelly Matzen (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), Becca Schleicher (Avon, Minn./ Albany), Pagliaccetti and first-year Katie Lambert (Broomfield, Colo./ Holy Family) took fourth place with a 3:50.05. Junior diving standout Steph Johnson (Chaska, Minn./ Chaska) took third in the one meter dive.
The Blazers will return to action next Saturday when they travel to St. Peter, Minn. for the Gustavus Adolphus Invitational.
