Stepping across the border for a nonconference dual meet, the Stillwater boys' swimming and diving team won all 11 swimming events to sink Hudson 130-89 on Thursday.
Andy Knaak, Greg Wise and Brandon Adair were each double winners for the Ponies, who improved to 2-0 on the season (1-0 Suburban East Conference).
The Raiders are coached by one of Stillwater coach Brian Luke's former swimmers. Marcia Diederich competed for Stillwater in the late 1990s, earning the team's Most Valuable Player award one year.
"It was kind of fun to see her," Luke said. "She's doing a nice job over there."
Stillwater finished first and second in the 200 medley relay and cruised from there. Tony Carlson, Knaak, Adair and Nick Hajlo posted a winning time of 1:45.27 while Chappy Gibb, Wise, Andrew DeShaw and Joe Jezorski followed in second place at 1:52.95.
Wise (1:52.98), Daved Najarian (1:57.36) and DeShaw (1:59.57) finished 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyle and Adair touched the wall first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:05.21. Wise later won the 100 backstroke in a time of 57.76. Knaak won the 50 freestyle in 22.85 and also claimed the 100 butterfly in a time of 55.53. Adair finished first in the 100 freestyle at 50.69.
Stillwater's depth showed through with Adam Rosell winning the 500 freestyle in 5:16.04 and Max Hollerbach finished first in the 100 breastroke at 1:09.04. Taylor Montgomery, Najarian, Wise and DeShaw led a 1-2 finish for Stillwater in the 200 freestyle relay while Knaak, Adair, Montgomery and Najarian won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:26.94.
"The moved kids around a little bit and ended up doing some different events," Luke said. "I thought for what we've been doing we saw some improvement, especially with the kids kids on the JV. They have really improved the last three-and-a-half weeks. We have 14 new kids and they're coming along really nice. That's our key to the future."
