PITTSBURGH-Cassidy Krug, daughter of Pitt swimming and diving Assistant Head Coach Julian Krug, has been selected as one of 12 divers to represent the United States on the 2008 World Cup Team.
Krug earned the bid after scoring a total of 1,377.70 points en route to a first-place finish in the 3M Springboard event at the selection/training camp in January.
In the Synchronized 3M Springboard competition, Krug and partner Nancilea Foster earned a total of 1,252.20 points over four dives. The pair led the event coming into the last dive and ultimately landed in second place by a mere point.
Krug will compete at the FINA Diving World Cup in Beijing from February 19-24. Two weeks later, Krug and Foster have a possible opportunity to compete at the China Cup in the synchronized event.
A 2007 Stanford graduate, Krug's impressive collegiate career includes NCAA Division 1 Championships in both the 1M and 3M diving events. In October, the Krug family became the first-ever family of recipients for the Whosam Inc. Award due to their dedication to the sport.
