Jordan Davis placed third in the diving to highlight St. Joseph Academy’s participation in the TAPPS State Swimming and Diving Meet in San Antonio over the weekend.

It was Davis’ first time to compete at the state meet. He also swam on SJA’s relay teams and was an alternate for the 50 freestyle.

The meet’s prelims were last Friday and the finals were on Saturday.

Also for SJA, Andres Delgado, making his third appearance at state, took sixth in the 200 freestyle and seventh in the 100 butterfly.

The SJA boys 200 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 free relay placed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Other boys competing for the Bloodhounds at state were Naty Jimenez, Luis Jimenez, Sidney Nuñez, Tommy Dunn, Jason Wolfe, Scott Wolfe and Alejandro Delgado.

In all, 13 SJA swimmers advanced to state.

Competing for the SJA girls on Friday were Michelle Holland, Kristen Johnson, Gaby Ramirez and Samantha Wolfe.

Danny Uresti coached the boys and Emily Perez coached the girls.

"We have a young team, and all our boys relays will be back next year," Uresti said. "There’s lots of promise for the future."
