Windy Point Park is a popular spot for scuba divers and was the scene of a dive that turned tragic Saturday.

Emergency crews converged on the park just after noon. That's when, they say, a diver in his mid-50's had to be pulled from the water.

The man was scuba diving with a class when something went wrong.

He was found about 86 feet under water. Medics performed CPR at the scene.

The victim was transported to Brackenridge Hospital by StarFlight. He died a short time later.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy.

There is no word as yet on the identity of the victim.
