The film La Vie En Rose, about the life of French singer Édith Piaf, picked up 11 nominations yesterday for France's César Awards.
French star Marion Cotillard, who this month scooped a Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy for her portrayal of the tragic chanteuse, was nominated for best-actress César. The 32-year-old is also a contender for honours at next month's Academy Awards.
Released in France under the title La môme, La Vie En Rose was also nominated for best French film.
Other nominees for the Feb. 22 Césars in the best-film category are Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, Julian Schnabel's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, La graine et le mulet by Abdelattif Kechiche and Claude Miller's Un secret.
Persepolis is also vying for an Oscar for best animated picture, while Schnabel's movie is an Oscar contender in the best-director and best-adapted-screenplay categories.
