Seminole State College is offering students the chance to explore what lies beneath the water in an exciting 16-week scuba diving course.

In the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Open Water Diving course, taught by certified instructor Lea Ann Hughes, students will learn the basics of scuba diving- starting in a pool and progressing to the open water (lake). During the course, students will participate in eight knowledge development sessions, six confined water dives and four open water dives.

Classes are held on Wednesdays from Jan.16 through May 7 from 6:45 -8:45 p.m. in the SSC Harber Field House Room 102. Cost for the course is $312.90, which includes a mask, fins, neoprene boots and a snorkel. Students will need a PADI water crew-pack, which can be purchased in the SSC Bookstore.

Participants must be in good health and comfortable in the water. All students will be required to provide a medical release signed by a physician stating that they are physically fit for participation in the course. Students who successfully complete all sections of the course, the final exam and all four open water training dives will be eligible to receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification card.

For additional information contact Carol Hartman at (405) 382-9246 or Lana Reynolds at (405) 382-9218, or drop by the SSC Office of Admissions in Tanner Hall to enroll.
