Former University of Texas diving All-American Troy Dumais led Team USA with a fourth-place showing in the three-meter springboard event Thursday at the FINA Diving World Cup.

Dumais (1999-2002) took fourth with 500.85 points in an effort that included two consecutive dives that earned scores of 9.0 from each of the judges. China’s He Chong and Qin Kai took the gold and silver, respectively, and Mexico’s Yahel Castillo claimed the bronze.

The FINA Diving World Cup is the last major international diving event before the Olympic Games, and the event was held at the same site of the swimming and diving events to be contested during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Dumais, who continues to train in Austin under UT diving coach Matt Scoggin, will compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials – Diving from June 18-22 in Indianapolis.
