The North Texas swimming and diving team is ranked No. 12 is the first mid-major ranking produced by collegeswimming.com.

It is the highest ranking ever by a Mean Green swimming and diving team. The Mean Green was ranked as high as No. 24 last season after posting a school best 7-4 dual-meet record.

The dual meet rankings use an objective point system to compare teams’ relative strength in a traditional thirteen-event dual meet lineup. Institutions eligible for the Mid-Major designation do not come from one of the eight major NCAA Division I-A football conferences.
North Texas sits at 1-6 on the season, with three of its losses coming against top-10 opponents. The Mean Green have set two school records this season. Alicia Hale broke her own mark in the 200 freestyle with 1:52.05 and Taryne Cantillo broke a six-year old record in the 200 fly last week against SMU and Wyoming. Denver and Western Kentucky are the only Sun Belt teams ranked above North Texas. Missouri State, who the Mean Green beat earlier in the year, sit at No. 10.

The North Texas swimming and diving team will not return to action until they travel to Las Vegas, N.V. to compete in the UNLV Winter Invitational Dec. 15-17.
